To achieve a good MBA entry, CAT test candidates need to concentrate on the next steps. Further, this article throws some light to management aspirants on activities following the announcement of the 2019 CAT performance.

  • Prepare for WAT, GD, PI:

Generally, there are two ways of selections process in any B-School

  • CAT (Common Admission Test)
  • WAT (Written ability test), GD (Group Discussion) and PI (Personal Interview)

WAT: After CAT it is time to buckle up for WAT, GD and PI rounds. Reading and practicing are the keywords for WAT preparations. You can read a variety of newspapers that would improve your vocabulary and give you a broader perspective on your reading and writing skills.

GD: Rarely do students prepare for group discussions by performing appropriate exercises to help clear this round. The planning for GD will begin with an overview of strengths and weaknesses, and then prepare how to strengthen them and cope with them. Topics of discussion may vary from world affairs, political issues, lifestyle or any general subject. Your verbal communication and body language will be tested through this test.

PI: You should have quick responses to questions describing yourself this would prepare you for PI. Seeking help from your seniors is also a good idea. As they have gone through WAT and PI, they would be able to help you with their experience.

  • Prepare your Academic Documents:

Once the results are out in happiness and anxiety one may tend to forget about some important aspects. Therefore, all marksheets and degree certificates should be maintained, and self-testing should be carried out. This would save you from last-minute errors.

  • Apply for admissions in Top B-schools:

The bright side is that you are already prepared so there is no harm in keeping a backup plan. Most B-schools start the MBA application process even before the CAT results are announced. Get your CAT performance access and make a list of Top B-Schools you want to apply for. Check their cutoff limit, their application process, and fee structure and apply. During a college search, students must consider various parameters such as registration, alumni, placement certificates, faculties, and the environment. Along with the right college course selection or specialization is equally important. Some select the college on the basis of course or specialization they want to pursue, and some select college first and then the course. Both the approaches are right its only one needs to be planned beforehand and this time can be used well by preparing for all of these.

  • Make time for yourself:

The most important point of all make some time for yourself, read novels, eat your favorite food and sleep well. As you know that you will be stuck to a routine for the next 2 years. Don’t stress yourself out as this is not the end of anything. CAT is just the beginning you have many options to pursue your MBA dreams.

I hope that you would consider this helpful and you’d take time to plan what needs to be done next, rather than just stress yourself out.
