Google has launched Transcribe, a feature in Google Translate that can now convert speech into another language. As it rolls, it has launched this feature for 8 languages namely English, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Thai and is available for Android. Sundar Pichai, CEO Google & Alphabet, made this announcement via a tweet on 18 March, 2020

In order to try this feature, you will need to have the latest updates from Play store for your Translate app on Android. When you click on “Transcribe” icon from the home screen, you will be allowed to select the source and target languages. Source language is the language which will be original and source is the language to which you wish to transcribe. During the transcribe process you can pause or restart the transcription by clicking on the mic icon. This feature currently works best in a quiet , low noise environment and only when one person is speaking at a time. There is also a conversation mode in the the app that allows back and forth translated conversion.
