Strategies to get better scores in GATE 2020

As the new dates of the GATE 2020 exam are already out its time for students to start their planned targeted study now. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national level postgraduate examination collectively carried out by the seven IITs and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Gate helps candidates to get admission in M.Tech. Programs and secure seat in government or private college. Students have started preparing for it from a very early pace as the competition increases with each passing year.

With counting days left applicants are advised to follow certain regime and tips in order to clear the test with good score. Below are some tips which could help to score well.

Revision is must:

Due to COVID-19, applicants had a lot of time for exam preparations and by now students might be in their revision stage. Do not sit back thinking that you have revised enough. Revise repeatedly as it plays a very important role in acing the competitive exams like GATE. Hence, revision should be on your priority list in GATE 2020 study plan. All the important topics must be revised and remember not to miss any. Stay away from any kind of distractions which could hamper your preparations. Also, don’t pile yourself with enough notes and try to pick some relevant study material with a proper study plan.

Stick to syllabus: 

One must always study according to the dedicated syllabus for GATE. The syllabus has already been declared for GATE on its official website. Stick to the syllabus as it has all the important topics. This helps you to know the exact syllabus you should study and will save you time. Do not study new stuff as there are just a few days left for the exam instead revise whatever you have studied so far. As brushing up the concepts you have already covered boosts your level of confidence.

Mock test and sample paper:

Taking a mock test and sample papers will give you a clear idea about the exam pattern and also help you to know where you lack. You should take time to evaluate and learn from your mistakes, instead of repeating them. The questions for GATE paper are prepared in accordance with the standard template laid down by the testing authority. Students need to understand the exact test pattern and learn how questions are asked, the level of difficulty of questions and if any particular topic is asked several times. Understanding the examination pattern will help students rationalize their preparations and plan their study accordingly. 

Practise time management:

With all the preparations time management must be at utmost priority. The GATE test duration is 3 hours and students are expected to complete this exam in the given time frame. Every question has a different difficulty level and scores, one must be smart enough to calculate the answer length depending on the scores and difficulty level of a particular question. This will help you to manage your time and complete the exam on time. If any specific form of the problem needs more time, seek to find out where the extra time is needed and plan accordingly.

A positive mind frame and right approach would certainly bring success. Students should avoid any unnecessary tension regarding preparation for the examination and take the test with a positive mind.
