New Delhi | June 1, 2026 — The wait is finally over for lakhs of engineering aspirants. IIT Roorkee has officially declared the results of JEE Advanced 2026, and Shubham Kumar from the IIT Delhi zone has emerged as the All India Rank (AIR) 1 holder, scoring an outstanding 330 out of 360 marks. Candidates can now check their scorecards on the official website, jeeadv.ac.in.
In a remarkable show of dominance, the IIT Delhi zone swept all three positions at the very top of the Common Rank List (CRL) this year.
Top 3 Rankers — JEE Advanced 2026
| Rank | Candidate | Marks (out of 360) | Zone |
|---|---|---|---|
| AIR 1 | Shubham Kumar | 330 | IIT Delhi |
| AIR 2 | Kabir Chhillar | 329 | IIT Delhi |
| AIR 3 | Jatin Chahar | 319 | IIT Delhi |
Shubham Kumar, reportedly from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, edged out second-placed Kabir Chhillar by just a single mark — a razor-thin margin that underlines how fierce the competition at the top really is.
Topper Credits Hard Work and Determination

Speaking to reporters after his result, an elated Shubham Kumar put his success down to consistency and self-belief. “I am very excited. I give credit to my hard work and to the contributions of my teachers and fellow students. One’s determination plays a huge role in gaining success,” he said.
His performance caps off a strong run across both of India’s toughest engineering entrance exams, having also been among the high scorers in JEE Main 2026 earlier this year.
Arohi Deshpande Tops Among Women Candidates
Leading the female candidates this year is Arohi Deshpande, also from the IIT Delhi zone, who scored 280 out of 360 and secured an impressive CRL rank of 77 — placing her firmly among the nation’s best engineering aspirants.

What Happens Next? JoSAA 2026 Counselling
With results out, the focus now shifts to admissions. Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee and Chairman of the Joint Admission Board (JAB), congratulated all successful candidates and urged them to register for the next stage.
“All qualified candidates are encouraged to participate in the JoSAA 2026 counselling and seat-allocation process, irrespective of their Class XII (or equivalent) marks,” he said. He added that final admission will remain subject to meeting the percentage-related eligibility requirements and other conditions laid out in the JEE Advanced 2026 information brochure.
Qualified candidates will now compete for seats across all 23 IITs, including the older institutes at Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kanpur, Kharagpur, and Roorkee, as well as newer campuses.
Didn’t Qualify? You Still Have Strong Options
For the many candidates who appeared but didn’t make the JEE Advanced cut, it’s important to remember that the journey isn’t over. JEE Main scores remain valid for admission to a wide range of premier institutions, including:
- NITs (National Institutes of Technology)
- IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology)
- GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes)
- Top state-level and private engineering colleges
A single exam result rarely defines an entire career — there are many excellent paths into engineering and beyond.
